Where is my download?

Check your downloads folder. For the Storybook Generator, after paying you’ll be returned to the storybook page where a download button will appear — just click it to save your PDF. If you already closed the window or can’t find it, email us and we’ll help you out.

The characters aren’t consistent across pages.

Make sure you’re using headshots wherever possible. A good clear headshot plus eye color is usually all you need — too much detail can actually backfire. For memoirs, you can include additional photos in the “extra description” or “other photo” sections to help keep things consistent.

I can’t get it to generate what I want.

Photos go a long way when you’re trying to recreate something specific. You can also add descriptive text in the “scenery” (Memoir) or “setting” (Storybook) fields that isn’t strictly about scenery — for example, “don’t show a dog in this photo” or “make this scene in daylight instead of at night” can make a big difference.

I’m getting errors when I try to generate something.

If you’re using photos, try re-saving the image under a different file name — that alone fixes it surprisingly often. The file may also be too large. Some fields also have limits on how much text they’ll accept; you can go slightly beyond the visible space, but too much text in fields like character descriptions or settings can trigger an error. Why is the PDF formatted this way?

It’s formatted specifically to be uploaded to Vistaprint’s Saddle-Stitch 8.5″ x 8.5″ booklet — 12 pages (cover + 8 inside). This produces a cute, appropriately sized children’s book without requiring excessive image resolution.

Why do you charge for a digital file?

Every time you generate something, it costs me money — so I’m essentially gambling that you’ll love it and purchase the book. Invitations cost me too, but I’m hoping you’ll be so thrilled that you end up making a book or telling a friend. It’s a labor of love over here!

What is the difference between a Storybook and a Memoir?

A Storybook is more plot-driven — you don’t need to write the story word for word or describe every detail, a lot of that gets generated for you. A Memoir lets you control every page individually, so you can describe exactly what you want and get it precisely as you envisioned.

What is Mack Attack’s Universe?

Mackenzie is my daughter and we call her Mack Attack. When I first made her 3rd birthday card, I got so much positive feedback that I had the idea to make stories too — and the rest snowballed from there. I named it after her because she is cute.
